Assessment and Planning Unit

The redeveloped Assessment and Planning Unit (APU) is delivering an improved assessment service for acute medical patients admitted from either the Emergency Department or an Outpatient clinic.

Completed as part of the State-funded Phase 1 Redevelopment project, it includes modern equipment to ensure early diagnosis and treatment.

Invasive treatments, that previously required patients to go elsewhere in the hospital, are being delivered in the new procedure room.

Patients generally stay in APU for up to 36 hours. Following treatment, they are referred to an inpatient unit or discharged home with community follow up.
