Another milestone in the RHH Redevelopment project is complete with the relocation of the general and women's surgical unit today, 9 November 2016.

Patients will enjoy the ward which has been given a spruce up since being vacated by inpatient oncology in late September.

The relocation of the ward has allowed for an improved service delivery model to be implemented.

The new ward has 24 beds and is complemented by an additional two beds in the elective post-operative care unit of the department of critical care medicine.

The elective post-operative care unit will allow close monitoring of high acuity patients in the early post-operative stage.

The former ward had 25-beds.

The general and women’s surgical unit is now located on level 2, A-Block.

The telephone number for general and women’s surgical unit is the same – 03 6166 8481.

The move means that levels 2 and 4 of B-Block are now vacated.
